At the Dermatology Clinical Research Center of San Antonio™, our research team is committed to the advancement of clinical practice and to the improvement of patient care.  We participate in the development of prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, and personal care products.  We strive to ensure that our patient volunteers have a positive experience while participating in the clinical  research studies.

  Dr. Steven A Davis, Principal Investigator

Steven A. Davis, M.D., the center’s founder and principal investigator, got his B.A. in Economics from Yale University and his M.D. from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas.  Dr. Davis completed his dermatology residency at the University of California San Francisco Medical School, after which he was on the academic faculty there for six years.  He was certified by the American Board of Dermatology in 1977.   Dr. Davis has over 20 years of experience doing clinical research studies.

He has published in the lay and scientific press and is currently Clinical Professor of Medicine (Dermatology) at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.  In additional to his dermatology practice – the Dermatology & Laser Center of San Antonio – Dr. Davis serves on the Executive Board of BioMedSA, (see BioMedSA.org) and the Foundation Board of the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center.   Dr. Davis also has an extensive background in media experience, including 33 continuous years as the producer and voice of “Speaking of Health” an award-winning feature on the CBS Radio Network. Sub-Investigators

 

Arthur W. Richardson, M.D.is a graduate of Colorado State University and the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver. He served in the US Army for eight years and did his dermatology residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.  He has been board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology since 1961 and been in private practice in San Antonio since 1962, most of his career at the Diagnostic Clinic of San Antonio™.  Dr. Richardson joined the Dermatology Clinical Research Center of San Antonio in June 2000.  Dr. Richardson is also  very active in the community, serves on the board of Morningside Ministries, and plays drums for a popular San Antonio jazz group, The Band-aids.  Back to top 

 
 

Gloria J. Johnson, PA-C MPAS, served in the US Air Force for  20 years and received a Bachelor of Science, Physician Associate, from the University of Oklahoma in 1985.  She did an Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery PA Residency in 1993.   She received a Master's in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska in 2000.  She has a very diverse clinical background which includes experience in family practice, primary care/urgent care, otolaryngology, neurology, and dermatology and is national certified as a Physician Assistant. Joey Dixon-Julian, PA-C MPAS, received a Bachelor of Science with a major in biology/pre-medicine and a minor in chemistry from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kansas in 1997.   She then earned a Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant studies from Wichita State University, Wichita, Kansas in 1999.  In 2004, she earned a Master's in Physician Assistant Studies with an emphasis in Dermatology from the University of Nebraska.  Prior to joining the dermatology practice in 2003, she worked for 3 years in a very busy obstetrics/gynecology practice and is nationally certified as a Physician Assistant.  She is very active in the community with various charitable organizations and with several professional groups. Glennda Bruce, RN, MSN, graduated from Texas Woman’s University in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and from The Catholic University of America in 1979 with a Master of Science in Nursing.  She has over 38 years of experience in the nursing profession with over 22 years of active duty with the US Air Force.  She retired as a Colonel in September 1996.  She worked as the Acute Stroke Research Coordinator at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio for a year and has been working at the Dermatology Clinical Research Center of San Antonio since June 1998.  Glennda is a very active volunteer for Small Paws Rescue, Inc. which is a nation-wide Bichon Frise rescue organization.  In addition to fostering, she is the Team Leader for South Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Janice K. Orem, CMA, graduated from San Antonio College with an Associate of Arts in Business Technology in May 1975.  In 1977, she became a Certified Medical Assistant.  From 1976 to 2007 she was the Business Manager for a busy Urology Practice with 5 physicians and 17 ancillary personnel.   She has been involved with clinical research since 1994 and joined the Dermatology Clinical Research Center of San Antonio in January 2008.  She is a member of the following organizations:  San Antonio Medical Managers, Medical Group Management Association, American Medical Assistants, Bexar County Medical Assistants, and Association of Clinical Research Professionals.  She is a very active member of the San Antonio community and does volunteer work for her church and several nursing homes.
